If you're up to your neck in wedding planning, chances are you've seriously considered forgetting the whole thing and running off to elope somewhere. Sure would be easier (and cheaper) than spending months picking out centerpieces and flowers and trying to figure out a seating chart because Aunt Florence and Aunt Sue can't sit at the same table. But alas, you love the guy, and you've always dreamed of this, so you can't throw in the towel now.
One of the most important things you'll have to decide on when it comes to the most important day of your life is your first dance song. It's gotta tell your story while also being significant to your relationship, and it needs to be easy to dance to. We've put together some of the top country songs for weddings to help you choose the perfect tune for your perfect day.
"Better Together"- Luke Combs

Luke wrote this song specifically for his wife, Nicole, but we like to pretend he wrote it for us. The line about "And if I'm being honest, your first and my last name, Would just sound better together and probably always will," gets us every time. The mention of coke cans, boats, cornfields, and BB guns makes it about as country as you can get. And not to mention his smooth, soulful voice. It's a top contender, for sure.
"God Gave Me You" -Blake Shelton

Is it just us, or is there a Blake song for pretty much every milestone in life? God Gave Me You is catchy, sweet, and goes hand in hand with the promises and commitments you make on your big day. The line "We are stitched together- And what love has tethered I pray we never undo" is a subtle nod to a Bible verse about how no man can separate what God has brought together.
"It's Your Love” -Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill

An oldie but a goodie, country’s power couple, Tim Mcgraw and Faith Hill, come together in a classic duet about all the crazy things being in love does to us. Their angelic voices in perfect harmony, and tear-jerking lines like "Better than I was- More than I am- And all of this happened By taking your hand" make this song a beautiful choice for your first dance as husband and wife. Plus, your grandma will probably know the words, so she can sing along too.
"Prayed For You"- Matt Stell

Matt Stell is relatively new to the country music scene, but he came in with this song and we're all about it. Prayed For You dives into the patience and trust that comes with waiting for your special someone to come along. Imagine rocking back and forth with your man and hearing “Cause every single day, before I knew your name-I couldn't see your face, but I prayed for you. Every heartbreak trail when all hope fell-On the highway to hell, I prayed for you." If there was time, patience, and a whole lot of prayer that went into you finally meeting Mr. Right, this is the first dance song for you.
"Love Someone"- Lukas Graham

Light, sweet, and not overly-sappy, Love Someone is one of those songs that puts true, genuine, and unconditional love into words. It's not too fast or too slow, Lukas' voice is smooth but strong, and lines like "There are days I wake up, and I pinch myself-You're with me, not someone else-And I am scared, yeah, I'm still scared that it's all a dream" wrap all of the feelings of a wedding into one song.
