The Ultimate “That Dumbass Broke Up With Me?!” Playlist

If you just got dumped, let's be clear about a few things:

  1. He's stupid
  2. It's his loss
  3. You're gonna be ok.

Breakups are hard. They mess with your self-confidence and take you on a rollercoaster of emotions that lasts for days, weeks, and even months. So how do you get through it? How do you navigate a broken heart?

You burn all of his stuff, you date one of his friends, and then you put this epic breakup playlist on repeat until you don't care about his sorry ass anymore. (We're halfway joking about burning his stuff. The other stuff? You're a grown-ass woman.)

So wipe your tears, put some of these power ballads on repeat, and enjoy the single life for a while:

Best Days of Your Life by Kellie Pickler

Kellie does an awesome job of giving us a song to rock out to when we're broken-hearted. Her sweet and sassy tone, combined with upbeat music and lyrics like:

Cause I'll be there, in the back of your mind
From the day we met to the very last night
And it's just too bad, cause you've already had the best days
The best days of your life

remind you that even though he broke up with you, he's never going to find someone as good as you. He's going to regret it. And by the time he does, you'll be long gone.

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by T Swift

We love Taylor Swift. But when it comes to breakups, she's pretty much an expert. She's figured out how to perfectly capture what it feels like to finally break free from someone who hasn't been treating you right. We love the part at the end where she says:

You go talk to your friends, talk to my friends, talk to me (talk to me)
But we are never ever, ever, ever getting back together

Because you know damn well he's going to be talking all about you to his friends and trying to see what you're up to. But it's for real this time, y'all aren't getting back together, and while it may hurt right now, you're going to be just fine.

Good As Gone by Little Big Town

Good As Gone is the perfect song to play as you pull your truck out of his driveway for the last time. Roll down the windows, let down your hair, and let him go. This powerful tune dives into finally letting go of trying to make something work. We love the part that goes:

I'm good at seeing the signs
I'm good at reading between the lines
No use in hanging on
Because you're good to go
And baby I'm good as gone

This is the song you play when you're all done crying, you're all done trying, and you're ready for the next thing.

Miss Me More by Kelsea Ballerini

We've all been guilty of changing little pieces of ourselves to impress someone we think we love. And before we know it, we don't even recognize ourselves. Kelsea's powerful song reminds us that although we may miss the good times, if you have to change who you are to be with someone, then he's not the right on. If you need a couple of good lines to belt out in your first post-breakup shower, go with:

I forgot I had dreams, I forgot I had wings
Forgot who I was before I ever kissed you
Yeah, I thought I'd miss you
But I miss me more

Wasting All These Tears by Cassadee Pope

Why can't we all be as hot as Cassadee Pope when going through a breakup? Not only is she gorgeous, but she's got an amazing voice and hits us right in the feels with all of her emotionally powerful songs. The song is perfect for the guy who did you so wrong, and for the girl who held on hoping he would change. How can you beat lines like:

You ain't worth another sleepless night
And I'll do everything I gotta do to get you off my mind
'Cause what you wanted I couldn't give
What you did, boy, I'll never forget?

It's heartbreaking and gut-wrenching, but it so clearly defines what it feels like to be wronged by someone you thought you loved.

Girl, you are beautiful, strong, valuable, and worthy of love. If he broke up with you, it's his loss. Wipe your tears, plan a girl's night, and believe that you will find love. What songs do you think we should add to this list?
